Celebrating Black History Month
This February ABLE is prioritizing Black History Month by focusing on and celebrating black joy and accomplishments. To do so, we’ve created a list of Nashville BHM events and exhibits for our own team and we wanted to share them with you too!
- Frist After Five - Celebrating Black Arts + Culture [ Link ]
- What: live music, poetry, local contemporary art, food trucks, and good vibes!
- When: Every Thursday in February; 6:00-8:00PM
- Where: The Frist Café, Frist Art Museum, 919 Broadway, Nashville TN 37203
- Cost: Free (does not include exhibit admission)
- Civil Rights Collection @ Nashville Public Library [ Link ]
- What: exhibit dedicated to exploring the drama of the Civil Rights Movement, locally and nationally
- When: Year round during regular Library hours
- Where: Main Library Branch, 615 Church Street, Nashville TN 37219
- Cost: Free
- National Museum of African American Music [ Link ]
- What: "... museum dedicated to preserving and celebrating the many music genres created, influenced, and inspired by African Americans."
- When: Year round
- Where: 510 Broadway, Nashville TN 37203
- Cost: $25
- The Nashville Black Market - 4th Annual Black History Month Expo [ Link ]
- What: Spotlighting more than 100 black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. Come dance, drink, and shop, all while empowering black businesses.
- When: Sat, Feb 11th 11AM-7PM & Sun, Feb 12 12-6PM
- Where: The Fairgrounds Nashville, 625 Smith Ave, Nashville TN 37203
- Cost: Free
- The Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum [ Link ]
- What: Several exhibits dedicated to the development of Black recording artists - Motown Exhibit, Staxx Recording Studio Exhibit, Jimi Hendrix Exhibit
- When: Year round
