GOLD FILL

Our 14k gold fill does not delaminate, peel, or rub off like plated or dipped products. It will keep its shine and luster for a lifetime, giving you an affordable alternative to solid gold while still maintaining its quality and integrity.

Polish with a jewelry polishing cloth, then wash with warm water and mild dish soap. If you wear your jewelry in the shower or to bed, it may require cleaning more frequently. If you start to see a color change in your jewelry, that is an indication that it is time for a clean.

VERMEIL

Vermeil is a type of plating, It’s the only kind of plating that has to be regulated and measured to legally use the term. Those requirements mandate that it has to be a minimum of 2.5 microns thick, has to be a karat weight of 10 or above, and can only be bonded to a base metal of sterling silver. Vermeil, refers to high quality (pure or sterling) silver that is plated with a thin layer of gold. We electroplate the silver with gold, a chemical process that uses an electrical current to bind the two metals together.

You’ll want to use lukewarm, not hot, and basic liquid soap. It's best to avoid completely submerging your jewelry into water. Instead, wet a soft, lint-free cloth into a bowl or sink of warm soapy water and gently clean your jewelry. Don’t use a toothbrush as it can be too abrasive to the gold plating. After you’re done cleaning, rinse it by using another cloth dipped in water only. Carefully pat it dry afterwards.

BRASS

Brass gets better with time. We love this material, because with age, it starts to gain a beautiful natural patina. It is a sturdy metal alloy made of copper and zinc that gives that classic “could have borrowed this from my grandmother” vibe we love.

Over time, brass will oxidize giving the pieces a unique and natural patina. To delay the oxidation process and keep the pieces as polished as possible, your brass pieces will be shipped to you in an anti-tarnishing bag along with an anti-tarnishing strip. Using these to store your pieces will slow down the oxidation process. If you are looking to bring back some of the shine that your brass started with, take 2 tablespoons of baking soda and add drops of lemon juice until you have a paste. The lemon juice will bubble and fizz. Take a toothbrush and apply the paste to your piece and scrub. Let it sit in the paste for about 30 minutes and then rinse it with water and dry thoroughly. If the desired result is still not reached, place the piece in vinegar and let it soak for 45 minutes and then scrub it with an old toothbrush, and rinse with water. Dry thoroughly.

STERLING SILVER

Sterling silver is classic and timeless. Not to mention it is a nickel-free alloy that offers an excellent and affordable alternative to pure silver or white gold jewelry.

GOLD PLATING

Gold plating is a process where a piece of jewelry is made from a metal or alloy and put another layer of metal on it. Therefore, brass is the metal underneath, and gold is the metal that covers it. We currently use 18k gold plating for all of our plated jewelry. Our 18k gold plating contains 75% of pure gold even though 24k is 100% pure gold, 18k mixed with other metals is for better hardness and strength - 18k gold plating is better than 24k plating as it makes the jewelry more durable.

• Gold plating can fade and tarnish over time, losing its initial luster and brightness. This is common and can happen regardless of the quality of the piece. Once you cover brass with a coat of gold, you’ll stop it from oxidizing when it comes into contact with your skin. However, once the gold plating starts to chip or tarnish to reveal the brass, it will likely start to turn your skin green. If the gold plating is very thin, it will discolor and start to tarnish quickly. The plating layer we use is perfect for the products we currently gold plate!
